Ways to Give

Keeping your pledge

Each year in the fall, members of the congregation are invited to make a pledge for the coming year, indicating their level of financial commitment. This allows the Session of the church to prepare the annual budget, based on a reasonable expectation of income for the next year. Pledge amounts are kept confidential. Information on making a pledge and the relevant forms can be found at Pledging.

Pledge payments -- and payments towards any other special gifts -- may be made through a variety of options, ranging from weekly offering envelopes to online banking. The following is a comprehensive list.

Online via our website

Use the website giving widget here to donate as you wish. Use the drop-down arrows to set up recurring payments and choose to give directly from your bank account or credit/debit card. The information is collected in our Breeze management software and is safe and secure.

Online via recurring payments

Use your bank’s automated bill payment feature to make your pledge payment each month, each week, or each quarter. You decide. Use the online banking tools of your bank to set up FPC (First Presbyterian Church) as an “automatic bill pay account.” This feature allows you to set up an automatic, recurring payment to FPC- you choose the date and the amount- and the checks will be generated and sent automatically to the church each month. The name for this service is slightly different with each bank, simply look at the online tools provided with your bank to see how easy it can be to schedule an automatic, recurring payment to FPC to spread your pledge payments throughout the year. Checks should be addressed as follows:

Payee: FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Address: 97 EAST GENESEE STREET, SKANEATELES, NY 13152
Memo line: 2024 Pledge (or whatever language describes where you want payment to go)

by cash

If paying in cash, please request offering envelopes, which will be coded so that we can correctly post the contribution to the right donor. Envelopes may be requested from the Church Office at any time. Contributions may be made weekly, monthly, or whatever best suits your personal banking habits. Cash should not be mailed to the church, but may be put in the offering plate on Sunday morning or delivered to the church office during weekday office hours.

by personal check

Personal checks should be made out to First Presbyterian Church, with the purpose of the payment (Pledge, Peacemaking Offering, Memorial Gift, etc.) indicated on the memo line. Checks may be delivered in person during normal office hours or mailed to us at the address indicated above.

Stocks & Securities

Gifts of stock are a wonderful way to support FPC and provide you with both income and capital gains tax deductions.

To make a gift of stock, please follow these instructions:

Ask your broker to wire transfer your stock gift by DTC to FPC’s Cash Operating Account at TIAA-CREF

Please contact AnnMarie at the church office at (315) 685-5048 to get the pertinent information

When making a gift of long-term appreciated stock and securities, be sure to transfer ownership of the securities to FPC. Do not sell the stock or securities on your own. This protects you from the capital gains tax on any appreciation. Your gift will be valued and acknowledged on the date that the stock arrived in our account

Important: Please notify AnnMarie Clarke the name of the stock as well as the number of shares and how you would like the gift to be used.
